## What Google Merchant Center is

Google Merchant Center is where merchants submit product information to Google. Google uses that data to match products to queries and to shape ads and free listings, and its documentation says incorrect or missing data can lead to disapprovals or limited eligibility [1]. A [disapproved product](/glossary/disapproved-product/) stops showing until the cause is fixed.

## What Rabbot does with it

On paid plans, Rabbot connects to Google Merchant Center and notifies you when Google disapproves a product. It reads Merchant Center's own verdicts every day: products Google disapproved, products Google demoted, and items still in review. These are Google's decisions, not an estimate. Six Google checks cover Merchant Center and Search Console.

A disapproval opens as a critical finding. A demotion or an item in review opens as a warning. Each finding names the product, what Google decided, and what to do next.

Delivery follows severity. A disapproval is emailed on every paid plan, and posted to Slack where [Slack is set up](/integrations/slack/). The Free plan cannot connect a channel. A warning is emailed on paid plans. Every verdict also appears in the dashboard and the weekly digest, and an AI agent can read them over [MCP](/docs/mcp/what-the-mcp-server-is/).

Rabbot also runs its own feed cross-check, a separate layer. It compares the product data behind your [product feed](/glossary/product-feed/) with what your live storefront shows: price, availability, and required identifiers such as a [GTIN](/glossary/gtin/). It raises a gap as disapproval risk before Google reviews the product. On the Free plan this check runs once at install and needs no connection.

## How to connect

Open Settings in the Rabbot app, find the Google card, and choose Connect. Connecting a channel needs Starter or above. On Free, the card shows See plans. The Google channel covers Google Merchant Center and Google Search Console under one connection.

The full steps are in [The Google channel](/docs/feeds/google-channel/). The [plan comparison](/docs/billing/plans-at-a-glance/) shows which plan covers which channels, and [switching channels](/docs/billing/switching-channels/) explains the rules for changing them.

## What the connection covers

- Rabbot reads Merchant Center and leaves your feed, your account and your Shopify products to you.
- Rabbot reads verdicts every day, and a disapproval reaches you the same day Rabbot reads it.
- Google makes the decision and Rabbot reports it with the product named. You fix the cause in your store or your feed.
- Free-plan stores get the day-zero cross-check, because Free cannot connect channels.
- Rabbot reads on its own schedule, then notifies you.

## Where to read next

[Feed alerts and disapproval risk](/docs/feeds/feed-alerts-and-disapproval-risk/) explains the two alert types, and [what feed monitoring is](/docs/feeds/what-feed-monitoring-is/) covers both layers. For setup and fixes, see the [Google Merchant Center guide](/guides/google-merchant-center/). If you fix issues with a [supplemental feed](/glossary/supplemental-feed/), the glossary entry explains the term. Search-side monitoring is covered in the [Shopify SEO guide](/guides/shopify-seo/).
