## What Slack incoming webhooks are

Slack describes incoming webhooks as a way to post messages from apps into Slack. Creating one gives you a unique URL, specific to a single user and a single channel, and that URL contains a secret [1]. Rabbot uses one to post into the channel you pick.

## What Rabbot does with it

With Slack set up, Rabbot posts its critical catches into your channel in real time, as soon as a check finds them. That puts the problem in front of whoever fixes the store, instead of in one person's inbox.

The split is deliberate. Slack receives critical catches, and everything below critical stays in email and the weekly digest. A product that Google disapproves or Meta rejects is a critical catch, so it posts the same day Rabbot reads the verdict. See the [Google Merchant Center](/integrations/google-merchant-center/) and [Meta](/integrations/meta/) integrations. TikTok (Beta) diagnostics appear in the dashboard and the weekly digest, not in Slack.

On paid plans with Slack set up, the weekly digest posts to Slack as well, and a quiet week posts an all-clear.

## How to connect

Slack alerts start on Starter. On the Free plan, catches arrive by email and in the weekly digest.

You create an incoming webhook in your Slack workspace and point it at the channel you want. Then open Settings in the Rabbot app, find the Slack card, paste the URL, and choose Save webhook. [Set up Slack alerts](/docs/notifications/set-up-slack-alerts/) has the steps. Rabbot stores the URL and never shows it again, and Clear stops Slack alerts.

You need permission to add apps to the Slack workspace. If you do not have it, ask whoever runs your Slack.

## What Slack gets

- Slack gets critical catches. Open warnings stay on the dashboard and in email.
- Email and Slack are separate settings, and setting up one leaves the other on.
- Rabbot posts to the channel, and you fix the problem in your store.
- A channel with nothing critical open stays quiet.
- Posted messages stay as posted: Slack's incoming webhooks do not allow deleting a message once posted [1].

## Where to read next

[Email and the weekly digest](/docs/notifications/email-and-weekly-digest/) covers the other channel, and [why Rabbot warns once](/docs/notifications/why-rabbot-warns-once/) explains the alert rhythm. [Plans at a glance](/docs/billing/plans-at-a-glance/) shows where Slack starts.
