Set up Slack alerts
Send same-day critical catches to a Slack channel using an incoming webhook.
What you get
With Slack set up, Rabbot posts its critical catches into a channel you choose, on the day the check finds them. It puts the problem in front of whoever fixes the store, rather than in one person’s inbox. That split is deliberate: Slack receives critical catches; everything below critical stays in email and the weekly digest.
Slack alerts start on Starter. On the free plan your catches arrive by email and in the weekly digest instead.
Step 1: make an incoming webhook in Slack
This part happens in Slack, not in Rabbot.
- In your Slack workspace, create an app for the workspace.
- Turn on incoming webhooks for it.
- Add a webhook and point it at the channel you want the alerts in.
- Slack hands you a URL beginning
https://hooks.slack.com/services/. Copy it and keep it to hand.
Slack’s own guide covers the current screens at api.slack.com/messaging/webhooks. You need permission to add apps to the workspace, so if you do not have it, ask whoever runs your Slack.
Step 2: save it in Rabbot
- Open Settings in the Rabbot app.
- Find the Slack card.
- Paste the webhook URL into the field.
- Choose Save webhook to store it.
Rabbot stores the URL and never shows it again. That is deliberate. A webhook URL is a key, and anyone holding it can post into your channel. If you need to change it, paste the new one and save again. To stop Slack alerts altogether, choose Clear.
Which channel to use
Pick the channel the person who fixes the store already reads. A dedicated channel works if someone has it pinned. A busy general channel usually means the alert scrolls past before anyone acts on it.
If nothing arrives
Rabbot only posts when it catches something critical, so a quiet channel is often just a healthy store, and open warnings on the dashboard are not meant to appear there. Compare it against the Critical tile: if a critical finding is open and Slack has stayed silent, the webhook is the likely culprit. Delete it in Slack, make a fresh one, and save that in Rabbot.
Email and Slack are separate settings. Setting up one does not switch off the other, and the weekly digest keeps arriving by email either way.
