Best Shopify SEO apps in 2026: optimisers and monitors

Sixteen Shopify SEO apps compared from their App Store listings on 2026-09-29: which change your store, which watch it, what they cost, and who needs which.

SEO apps edit. Feed apps build. Rabbot watches both. Optimisation apps change your store: titles, descriptions, alt text, images, schema, redirects, speed. Monitoring apps watch your store and tell you when something breaks and whether it is fixed. Feed apps are the third kind: they build and push product feeds to Google and Meta. No listing on this page describes building a feed (checked 2026-09-29), and Rabbot watches those feeds.

Most stores need one editor and one watcher. Most optimisation listings describe fixing a problem, not alerting you when a later theme or app update undoes the fix. Rabbot alerts you the day it happens, on the pages that earn your money and in your product feeds, from $19 a month.

The short list by job:

  • Change titles, descriptions and alt text in bulk: Booster, Avada AI SEO, SearchPie, Smart SEO, StoreSEO.
  • Compress images and speed up pages: Avada AI SEO, TinySEO, Tapita.
  • Write structured data: Webrex, JSON-LD for SEO, SearchPie.
  • Create redirects for 404s: Redirect Hero, Tapita, SEOWILL.
  • Know when something broke: Rabbot (pages and product feeds), Webrex Pro and JSON-LD for SEO (rich results), Redirect Hero (404s).

How we compared

Every fact comes from the app’s own Shopify App Store listing, fetched on 2026-09-29. Review counts, ratings and prices are as the listing showed them that day, in USD. Quotes are verbatim. When a listing does not mention something we write “not stated” or “the listing does not mention it”, which is not the same as “cannot do it”. There are no affiliate links. Rabbot is our product and it is in the list, so read our entries with that in mind. We say plainly where it does not fit. Every listing here sits in the App Store’s SEO category, which files features under a heading called “Monitoring performance”. We do not count that heading as a monitoring claim; the monitoring column quotes the listing’s own text.

We picked the sixteen by review count and by distinct job. The App Store has more, including other image, blog and redirect apps.

Pick by job

Dot plot of sixteen Shopify SEO apps by main job (edits, audits, watches, redirects, schema) and cheapest paid plan in USD per month, with rings for other jobs each listing names, from App Store listings checked 2026-09-29.

Filled dot: the app’s main job. Ring: another job its listing names.

Redirects and 404s. Redirect Hero’s listing covers this job only. Tapita (Business), SEOWILL (Pro), Plug in SEO (Lite) and TinySEO (Advanced) list broken link redirects inside a wider suite. Rabbot flags 404s and redirect problems on your monitored pages but does not create redirects.

Broken links. Booster, SearchPie, Smart SEO and SEO Manager list broken link detection. Rabbot reports 404s, redirect loops and a jump in broken links on a monitored page. It does not check every link on your store or fix links.

Sitemap and robots.txt. Avada AI SEO lists an “XML sitemap generator, Robot.txt editor” on Pro. Smart SEO lists “Sitemap” and “NoIndex Tags”. Rabbot edits none of these. It alerts you when robots.txt changes or sitemap.xml stops loading.

Titles and descriptions. Plug in SEO lists “Titles & Descriptions Management Tools”. Booster does meta titles on Pro, Yoast gives AI suggestions, and StoreSEO previews before you publish. Rabbot tracks unexpected changes and cut-off lengths but writes nothing.

Images and speed. Avada AI SEO, TinySEO and Tapita list compression, alt text and speed tools. Rabbot does no compression and no speed work, and it does not write alt text. It flags missing alt text on monitored pages.

Structured data. Webrex and JSON-LD for SEO write it. SearchPie and StoreSEO list JSON-LD too. Rabbot checks that Product, Breadcrumb and Article markup stays valid and does not add any.

Knowing when something broke. Most listings describe fixing, not alerting. Listings that name monitoring: Booster Pro (“Auto Pilot SEO Fixes & Monitoring”), SearchPie (“Monitor SEO score daily”), SEO Manager (“SEO Monitoring and Scoring”), Webrex Pro (“Rich result monitoring & live alerts”), JSON-LD for SEO (“Ongoing Monitoring of Rich Results”), Redirect Hero (404 tracking) and Rabbot. Rabbot watches the pages that earn your money: canonical, noindex, redirects, titles, headings, hreflang, the password page and add-to-cart. It sends one alert per problem and keeps it open until a live recheck confirms the fix (how checks work).

Feed disapprovals. SearchPie’s listing mentions resolving warnings in “Google Shopping & Merchant Center”. Tapita lists custom support for Merchant Center errors. On paid plans Rabbot connects to Google Merchant Center and Meta and notifies you when a product is disapproved or rejected. On paid plans it also cross-checks the feed against the live storefront every day, price, availability, GTIN, brand and missing data, and flags each mismatch as disapproval risk. TikTok (Beta) catalog diagnostics are read daily on paid plans (feed monitoring).

Yoast SEO. The Shopify App Store app (not the WordPress plugin): SEO and readability analysis, AI title and meta description suggestions, structured data. One plan, $19/mo or $190/year. 176 reviews, 4.3. The listing does not mention alerts or a checking schedule. Rabbot vs Yoast.

Redirect Hero. Detects 404s and creates 301 redirects. Regular $2.90/mo manages redirects by hand; Pro+ $4.90/mo adds automatic ones. 157 reviews, 5.0. Its listing covers 404s and redirects only.

Rabbot. Rabbot watches your store and your feeds. It checks canonical tags, structured data, redirects, noindex, 404s, titles, headings and hreflang, checks the homepage about every 5 minutes, and rechecks a product page about 39 seconds after an update. On paid plans it connects to Google Merchant Center and Meta and notifies you when a product is disapproved or rejected. On paid plans it cross-checks the feed against the live storefront every day and flags disapproval risk. TikTok (Beta) catalog diagnostics are read daily on paid plans. An MCP server, read tools plus two guarded writes, is free on every plan. Free plan: 20 URLs, checks at least weekly. Starter $19/mo, Growth $39/mo, Pro $79/mo, daily checks. Rabbot has no alt text writing, creates no redirects, does no compression, no AI writing and no keyword tracking, and has no App Store reviews yet.

Monitoring tools and feed apps

Two other kinds of tool sit next to the SEO apps on this page. Feed apps build, map and submit your product feed to Google Merchant Center and Meta; none of them describes watching the feed after submission, and that watching is Rabbot’s job on paid plans. They are compared in Google Shopping feed apps for Shopify. Website monitoring tools watch pages on any site, priced by URLs or pages rather than by store; Rabbot compares itself with ContentKing, now Conductor Monitoring, Little Warden, SEORadar and Screaming Frog, on the same dated, sourced terms as the pages above.

Which one for which store

  • New store on the Free plan: start with one free optimisation app such as Booster, SearchPie or Smart SEO, and add Rabbot’s free plan (20 URLs) to watch your best sellers.
  • Store with an agency: the agency changes things, so add a monitor. Rabbot’s weekly digest and, on paid plans, Slack alerts show what changed between agency edits.
  • Store running Google Shopping or Meta catalog: this is the store Rabbot is built for. On paid plans it connects to Google Merchant Center and Meta and notifies you when a product is disapproved or rejected. On paid plans it cross-checks your feed against the live storefront every day, price, availability, GTIN, brand and missing data, and flags disapproval risk. TikTok (Beta) catalog diagnostics are read daily on paid plans. Pair it with an app that fixes product data.
  • Custom theme that changes often: every theme edit can break canonical, noindex or schema. Rabbot rechecks a page about 39 seconds after a product update and daily on paid plans.
  • Big image library: Avada AI SEO, TinySEO or Tapita. Rabbot does not touch images.

FAQ

What is the best SEO app for Shopify? It depends on the job. For titles, alt text and images, pick an optimisation app from the table. For knowing when a page or feed breaks, pick a monitoring app. Most stores use one of each.

Can you do SEO on Shopify? Yes. Shopify lets you edit titles, descriptions, alt text and redirects natively. Apps add bulk editing, image compression, schema and monitoring on top.

How much does Shopify SEO cost? The apps here start at $2.90 a month for Redirect Hero, with most paid tiers between $9 and $80. Avada, SearchPie and Webrex top out at $99 to $99.99 a month, and StoreSEO’s largest is $249.99. JSON-LD for SEO is $399 a year. Prices are as listed on 2026-09-29.

Is there a free Shopify SEO app? Booster, Avada AI SEO, SEOLab, Tapita, SearchPie, SEOWILL, Smart SEO, StoreSEO, Webrex and Rabbot list free plans. TinySEO is free to install and bills per extra image. Limits differ, so check the listing.

How do you monitor SEO on Shopify? Watch whether pages stay indexable and correct: canonical, noindex, redirects, structured data. Rabbot checks these on a schedule. It does not track keyword rankings.

Can I run two SEO apps? Yes, if one edits and one watches. Two apps that both write meta tags or schema can conflict, so pick one editor per job.

How to get better SEO on Shopify? Fix what is broken first: 404s, missing titles, invalid schema, slow images. Then keep watching, because theme and app updates can undo fixes.
